Introductory
Emergent and foreseen situations like death in harness may leave the families of the church in great financial distress. At such times, benevolence in the form of immediate financial assistance must be readily available so as to enable the dependant family to tide over their genuine financial stringency. Keeping this in view, the Dagoretti SDA Church proposes for the setting up of a Welfare Association hereinafter referred to as Fund. The Fund shall be sustained by financial contributions from Dagoretti Corner SDA Church and Sabbath school members enrolled as members of the Welfare. A Sabbath school member who in three months’ time from the time of joining the welfare has not been in cooperated as a church member, in the absence of valid reason shall be deregistered as a member. Church members who transfer their membership to other churches may choose to remain as members of the Fund however they cannot be elected as officials of the Fund.

Benefits of the Fund accrue to the members only
Subscription will be collected from the members on the first month of the calendar year. In three months time, the member must clear his/her yearly contributions.
Objectives of the Welfare Fund.
The objective of the Fund is to relieve financial distress amongst, and to provide financial assistance to the members, the extent of which may be determined by the Managing Committee of the Fund, in the following circumstances:
When a member dies leaving his/her dependants in indigent circumstances
When a member loses a parent (s) or a member of the nuclear family.
Administration of the Fund
A Managing Committee will administer the Welfare Fund. The Fund should be constituted in such manner as is easily accessible to all of the needy members and their dependants.
Subscription from Members
All the members of the Welfare Fund have to contribute a minimum sum of Yearly basis, as decided by the Managing Committee with the approval of the General Body of the Fund.
Constitution of the Welfare Fund
Name: The Dagoretti Corner SDA Welfare Fund Scheme, hereinafter, referred to as ‘Fund’
Objectives: The objectives of the Fund shall be to relieve financial distress among the members in the following cases/circumstances:
Where a member dies leaving the dependants in indigent circumstances
Where a member loses a parent(s) or a member of the nuclear family
In such other cases as may be deemed fit and deserving by the Managing Committee of the Fund
Sources of the Fund
Subscription from the members of the Fund; and
Other voluntary contributions or donations
NOTE:
Subscription from the members will be collected by the Church treasurer.
Contributions once made to the fund shall not be refunded in any case.
4. Eligibility of Membership:
The membership of the Fund shall be open to all church and Sabbath school members
Sabbath school members shall be given only three (3) months of grace to convert to church members using church laid down regulations unless otherwise.
A member of the Fund shall be a person, who having been admitted as a member in accordance with the rules governing the Fund, shall have paid his subscription and shall not have resigned
No person shall be entitled to vote or be treated as a member whose subscription at the time has not been received.
5. Application for Membership:
Any church or Sabbath school member who wishes to become a member of this Fund voluntarily, shall submit his/her application to the secretary of the Managing Committee in the Application Form for membership as prescribed in ‘Appendix A;
The member has to pay the prescribed yearly membership fee as prescribed from time to time and membership registration fee of Ksh 100.00 on joining the welfare.
